an exhibition of Richard Gere's photo works

When you find yourself in Tibet, the same feeling as you experience looking at Goya’s paintings appears, the feeling of despair and hopelessness. Today is the most difficult and dark period in its history – the culture of Tibet is almost utterly ruined.

wanted to show real people. Tibetans are not a concept, they are living people with their world perception, their reality and understanding of a human’s heart. That is why they are unique.

In 1978 I got the ancient wooden plate from the hands of Tibetan old woman in refugees’ camp near Pokhara in Nepal. These photographs are my journey, spiritual and physical, along many Tibetan settlements of Himalayan region, from Zanscar to Tibet”.
